Join Union Bank and the Student Conservation Association (SCA) on Sunday, March 31st to Preserve Cesar E. Chavez Park in Honor of Cesar Chavez Day!
Cesar E. Chavez Park, named after Cesar Chavez, a union leader and founder of the United Farm Workers of America, provides recreational opportunities for the Bay area. Formerly an old landfill, the park contains 90 acres of green space including a multi-purpose field, kite flying areas, hiking paths, and picnicking. In addition, the northern end of the park is host to a wildlife sanctuary. Union Bank and SCA have teamed up to help preserve this unique open space.
WHEN: Sunday, March 31st, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
WHERE: Cesar E. Chavez Park, 11 Spinnaker Way, Berkeley, CA 94710.
Public transit and carpooling are encouraged. Take public transit to Stop ID: 54393, University Av:Marina Blvd. Limited parking available at Cesar E. Chavez Park.
WHAT: Volunteers will help with weeding, mulching, thistle removal, and park clean-up.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
PROVIDED: SCA will provide light morning snacks and lunch for all volunteers, as well as reusable water bottles. Gloves and all project supplies will also be provided.
